Workshop trail

The KOR company specializes in circus arts and movement. The company’s workshops for students deal with the body and its vocabulary. A simple initiation is transformed into an immersive experience that transmits circus grammar, mobility, self-acceptance and the rules of the stage. The cultural activities on offer are accessible to all, with an emphasis on group dynamics.

The workshop program is structured around 2 complementary disciplines: juggling and sports juggling. In these workshops, students will learn to spatialize, to apprehend the object in their hands and in the space around them. Through repetition, students will learn to increase their level of analysis, creating a better relationship between nervous reaction and motor efficiency and reactivity to objects. With this in mind, artists and students will discover and appropriate the principles and applications of general and specific physical preparation for juggling.

To achieve this, the students and their teachers will :
– Motor skills and coordination exercises
– General and specific physical preparation
– Kinesiology exercises designed to expand the motor schema of practitioners
– Rhythmic and musical juggling work
– Postural correction
– The basics of traditional juggling with 3 objects (and more…)
– A video study of different juggling styles
– An anatomical point of view on the motor functions developed by juggling
– Work on building a routine summarizing all or part of the vocabulary learned during the intervention.

Diffusion and creation of company pieces

At the start of the course, the FABRIK show will be presented to all students. A circus show for young audiences, combining juggling, acrobatics and puppetry, this duo tells the story of how a creator discovers the free will of the being he has created in his own image, and how together they design the world he dreams of.

This residency in a school environment will enable the Kor company to move forward with the creation of its new show, KONTROL, a satire on the evolution of the way we consume art, inspired by the history of juggling. In this solo, Jean-Baptiste Diot explores the link to tradition, isolation and passion of his juggling practice. At the end of the course, a work phase will be presented to all students.

Throughout the residency, there will be opportunities to discuss the creative process with each class, and to present the various stages of the work.

Company presentation

Born in 2019, the KOR company develops artistic projects around the arts of movement in connection with the mechanics of time, the singularity of bodies and transgression. In 2021, she will be releasing her first show, FABRIK, and at the same time running several weeks of cultural activities linked to the show (PACTES projects, cultural activities in educational areas with nursery, primary and secondary school students, with workshops and performances).

In 2023, the company produced ARKANES, a dance and circus project bringing together 4 dancers and an acrobat to create a public space around the figure of the witch. At the same time, she began work on a third show, KONTROL . Creative work on this show will continue as part of the school residency.

It is around the creation of KONTROL and the company’s universe that the school residency project presented here is based. The company is developing a range of actions around sport, making the development of motor skills and the democratization of sporting activities, in particular through sports juggling, one of its objectives for 2023-2024.
