La Maison des Jonglages is partnering with the Centre Pénitentiaire d'Insertion et de Probation de Fleury-Mérogis to set up a series of workshops focusing on the art of gesture, speech, musicality and juggling. Juggling artist Axel Martinez and singer, musician and juggler Dimas Tivane will be running a series of workshops involving the body, conventional and non-conventional objects, voice and rhythm.

In this workshop, participants explore the notion of movement by giving objects purposes quite different from their usual function. The idea is to discover and use the sounds of everyday objects – such as chairs, keys, cups, etc. – as artistic elements. Participants are invited to find ways of integrating juggling into their everyday lives, moving away from conventional uses to transform ordinary objects and gestures into artistic expressions.
Dimas Tivane and Axel Martinez guide the search for existing pieces of music and also compose original pieces, inspired by words from the different cultures and languages specific to each participant. This musical exploration accompanies the movements and manipulations of the objects, enabling each participant to give a new dimension to juggling through rhythm, sound and cultural influences.
The work carried out in the workshop will be presented in a short performance at the Penitentiary Center.
