Residence(s)

Métamorphoses is a juggling piece set to a piano solo by Philip Glass métamorphosis.
Seven small tableaux based on the repetition of metamorphoses, subtle variations in time. Skin transformations, “being” modifications.

metamorphosis: change from one form to another.
A complete change in a person’s condition or character, or in the appearance of things.
or
transformation of the body and way of life, during development.
As with some animals

This research is an effort against juggling, against the spectacular.
There’s a kind of symbiosis with the music, and minimalism in the juggling too.
For these “metamorphoses”, I’m not looking for originality in invention, i.e. I’m not looking for technical prowess, nor the prowess of creating new, never-before-seen and stunning figures. I’m not interested in discovery, but in rediscovery, in what happens in a simple throw of a ball.

It requires an interiority, a forgetfulness of bullets…
Dive into the infinitely juggled in order to get out.
The interior transforms the exterior.
Make the listener work, listen to the suspension, suspend the transformation, transform the invisible…hypnotize.

Appearing under a light hoot, disappearing only to reappear under another.
Seven metamorphoses, like seven days of the week, like the seven stages of a transformation.

François Chat

François Chat is one of the leading figures in contemporary juggling in France.

For over 30 years, he has been the author of some fifteen creations and a number of plastic installations. He is also a trainer and influences the work of various companies. Since the creation of Carapace concave, François has also invited other jugglers to join him on stage.

From clip-clop in 1993, he emancipated juggling beyond the circus circle, becoming one of the first contemporary juggling artists, programmed as early as 1993 in dance festivals, in 1998 at the Festival de Saint-Denis (show and music), and at the Théâtre du Châtelet, with SEtaccio in 2002.
