As part of La Nuit du Cirque, an international event organized by Territoires de Cirque, with the support of the French Ministry of Culture.
One could imagine three characters in a closed space, it is night, it is dark. This is our backdrop, without image or sound. Then, a noise that calls for light, some figures, a flame, a ball. Drawn from their night, the silhouettes appear then. One face meets another. Life organizes itself to try, despite everything, to restore silence and bring back the darkness. There are all kinds of mysteries and this light that constantly break the continuous order of time. It is in a proximity that lets the noises escape from all sides that the eye of the spectator gets used to the weak light of a few candles, and then all perceptions are tinged with the spirit of magic.
Collective Petit Travers
The Collectif Petit Travers was founded in 2004. Since 2011, the artistic directions have been driven jointly by Nicolas Mathis and Julien Clément. The activity of the company is mainly centered on the production and distribution of large format juggling pieces and educational transmission.
In eighteen years, a repertory of eight plays, an amateur creation and four small forms were born, totaling more than 1000 performances throughout the world (England, Germany, Italy, Denmark, Finland, Hungary, Spain, Portugal, Cambodia, Laos, China, Argentina, Chile, Israel, Turkey…). Strong encounters with great names in Dance (Pina Bausch, Maguy Marin, Joseph Nadj), Circus (Jérôme Thomas) and Music (Sébastien Daucé, Pierre Jodlowski, Ensemble TaCTuS) took place along the way. Some of them have become collaborations, thus concretizing the dynamic of openness which since the beginning feeds this writing of juggling from the inside.
