Quand ça lâche plunges the audience into a universe where gravity, tension and movement orchestrate every moment. We follow a character who, out of curiosity, enters a mysterious box. Fascinated, he interprets the movements of the objects around him and the mechanical rattles as supernatural events. His attempts to control this environment only reveal his powerlessness in the face of the invisible forces that govern it. Little by little, he finds himself expelled from his box to face the unknown.
Nested Circus
At the heart of Johan Stockmar – Cirque Emboîté’s artistic approach lies a fascination for the functionality of objects and the pleasure derived from their seemingly simple mechanisms, mixed and influenced by his cigar box juggling practice.
In 2023, he created Si ça tombe, a 12-minute short form, as part of his training at the Académie Fratellini. He then presented this number at the 43rd Festival du Cirque de Demain.
Following on from this, he is already planning a sequel: Quand ça lâche (autumn 2026 premiere), with the desire to take this interlocking universe even further.
As a juggler and object manipulator, he is driven by the idea of creating a world where objects have power over humans. Not through artificial intelligence or modern technology, but through the simple, raw power of analog mechanisms.
Johan Stockmar’s creations explore the multiple possibilities of sharing the stage with a material world, in which objects are real characters and the extraordinary emerges from the ordinary. He invites audiences to forget where they come from, for a brief moment, in a safe and dreamy place.
