Circus night : Robert n’a pas de paillettes

As part of the Circus Night, an international event organised by Territoires de Cirque, with the support of the French Ministry of Culture.

Robert n’a pas de paillettes is a common space where the fragility of an imbalance, the beauty of a catch, are so many echoes of our deep humanity. Through this suspended journey, Arthur Sidoroff, accompanied by the musician Thomas Caillou, explores the practice of the thread as a choreographic and sensitive material. The bi-frontal scenic device installs the public in a proximity with the fil- de-ferist and the musician. An intimate relationship with the apparatus which testifies to the artist’s desire to embody a raw humanity, to present herself on the wire “without filter”, “without glitter”.

Arthur Sidoroff

Arthur started the circus as a teenager in Vitry-sur-Seine, in the 94 region. He then passed a CAP (vocational training certificate) as an equine groom and trainer in the field of equestrian and touring shows. After 5 years spent with horses, he enters the National School of Circus Arts of Rosnysous-Bois where he discovers the wire, then continues his training at the Academy Fratellini for 3 years.

Upon his release, he joined the equestrian theater Zingaro for the creation On achève bien les anges.

He then worked on various projects, notably with the AOC collective on the show “Piano sur le fil” with Bachar Mar Khalife and Gaëtan Levêque. With Marion Collé and the Porte 27 collective, he created “En attendant le dernier ciel” (Waiting for the last sky), a tribute to the poetry of Mahmoud Darwich at the Institut du Monde Arabe. In June 2019 he created “Robert n’a pas de paillettes” in duet with musician Thomas Caillou, a show produced by the Plus Petit Cirque du Monde (PPCM). Still with the PPCM he participates in social circus projects that take him to Guadeloupe and Kingston, Jamaica.

Arthur collaborates with the London hip-hop dance company Far From The Norm with whom he tours Europe. In November 2020, he participated in the creation of “Buster” under the direction of Mathieu Bauer at the Centre Dramatique National de Montreuil.

As part of the Nuit Blanche 2020 event at Kilowatt in Vitrysur-Seine, he created the show “Masse”, a score for twelve artists and a horse. This in-situ creation uses the setting of an EDF coal-fired power plant and plays on the contrasts between the industrial site and the presence of the horse.

Following this experience, he began his collaboration with the production company Full-Full and founded the company La Fauve, a multidisciplinary company focused on the sustainable presence of the horse in a territory. With this implantation of the animal in an urban environment, La Fauve wishes to carry out projects that question the link between artistic proposal, social project and cultural actions. These protean projects are called “Dream Parade”.
