Suite for a door and a sigh

Suite pour une porte et un soupir is a juggled, absurd and poetic creation inspired by Pierre Henry, founder of musique concrète, and creator of the album “Variations pour une porte et un soupir”, 48 minutes of door creaking. It will be the journey of a juggling character, obsessed by the composer and his work. The piece is based on a long process of collecting sounds and transforming them into choreographic and juggling material.

Meticulous juggling, improbable sounds, elucidations on the chaos of the world, magnetic tapes and magnificent misfires make up a show on the border between circus, performance and documentary theater. Between humor, metaphysics and sound bricolage, this piece for all audiences invites us to see the world differently, to listen to the insignificant, to celebrate the absurd.

Compagnie de La Paumelle

Tom Lacoste has been a juggler since 2003. After a degree in philosophy, he trained at circus schools in Bordeaux and Lomme.In 2018, he and a group of friends founded the Collectif du Plateau, to bring a street circus that is playful and popular.He studied clowning with Eric Blouet, Michel Dallaire, Gilles Cailleau, Louise Wailly and Sylvie Bernard, and trained as an actor at the Théâtre du Hangar in Toulouse.In 2020, he took part in the Festival Mondial du Cirque de demain, winning a silver medal. His act will be performed on 3 continents and in all kinds of contexts: street festivals, cabarets, schools, prisons, museums, villages, nightclubs, big tops…
In 2024, he founds the Compagnie de la Paumelle to defend a circus mixed with theater, always carrying a narrative, a meaning, a sense of humor.
