Status Quo

In a steamy atmosphere, two circus performers in their forties, wearing bathrobes and slippers, ponder the inevitable decline of their bodies. They’re at the spa, in purgatory, talking, questioning, dreaming and delirious… Their careers will soon come to an end, one has made up his mind: it’s over; the other wants to shine again, for all to see. They strip off their bathrobes and return to their former state, young artist at a red light throwing skittles, or body unfurled like a flag at the top of the Chinese flagpole and sliding gracefully 2 centimetres from the ground… What reconversion can be envisaged when the body goes crazy, when the fear of falling takes over?

The poetry of the clown’s failure is the last refuge, and the voluntary decision to endure the suffering of hair-pulling is also an alternative. An ephebe balances on his hands, a Valkyrie waltzes through the air.

So all is not lost!…

Subliminati Corporation

Created in 2009, the Subliminati Corporation is a tool for taking liberties, flirting with impertinence, enjoying it and crying about it.

Its aim is to promote tragi-comic, energetic and tangy live shows. As the author of her own texts, the Corporation integrates circus disciplines to create a textual narrative that reflects our daily lives. It’s part of an artistic movement that defends circus artists’ right to speak, a balanced mesh between two scenic forms: circus and theater.

This narration is not just about speaking.
It’s a position statement.

The Corporation won the Jeune Talents Cirque Europe award in 2009.
She has four creations to her credit, with a total of 400 performances on the European stage. Shows: #fi le_tone, Le cabaret Subliminal, Deixe_me, Made_in have been performed at the Avignon Festival, Circa, Les Subsistances, Théâtre de la Villette, Scène Nationale de Creusot… And internationally: in Spain at Teatro Circo Price and Festival Fira Trapezi Reus, in Denmark at Copenhagen International Theatre Festival (KIT)…in Italy, Switzerland, England, Mexico, Czech Republic and Israel.

The Subliminati Corporation has been working for over ten years with director Virginie Baes, who has been involved in the dramaturgy and direction of three of its shows, as well as its next creation.
