RISING APE

RISING APE is a 50-minute solo for the stage, the public space at night, non-dedicated venues and in-situ. A radio blares a Sleaford Mods song, a desk smokes, notebooks pile up; he moves so fast he becomes a blur. He’s just accelerating. Accelerating through life like a rocket through the void – finding every engineer’s solution to reduce friction, in an absurd, joyous and sinister circus of productivity. He is us, and we are him – Hanna Arendt’s homo faber, with a Bullshit Job à la David Graber: happy Sisyphus, or neurotic?

La Mob à Sisyphe

La Mob à Sisyphe is the result of a meeting in 2015 at the Lido between Raphaël Milland, Cochise Le Berre and Idriss Roca, which
gave rise to the creation of Huitième Jour, followed by the structuring of Cie Diagonale du Vide (around Idriss Roca and Amanda Homa) and the creation of their show C’est l’Hiver, le Ciel est Bleu. In 2025, the company launched two new works: RISING APE, a solo by Idriss Roca, and Il est Chelou le Truc, a duo by Florencia Buzzo and Cochise Le Berre. It is a multiple and pluriform circus, but resolutely circus, which seeks virtuosity in everything. It is the desire to question a narration in filigree, where the concrete act is absurd and the absurd act is concrete, in a disconcerting poetics and a spirit of child, terrible child. It’s playing with everything. Especially what is difficult. Especially dangerous ones.
