Residence(s)

Each artist will tell the story of the dream they had before February 24, 2022, in their own way, through their own discipline, their own apparatus and their own story. Dreams will be a show about youth, friendship and the happiest moments in life that every Ukrainian experienced before the full-scale invasion. The piece will also present Ukrainian symbolism, Ukrainian folk traditions, and the soul and indomitability of the Ukrainian people.

Inshi Circus

Cirque Inshi was co-founded by Roman Khafizov and Vladimir Koshevoy in the spring of 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic that prevented many Ukrainian artists from touring abroad, forcing them to remain in Ukraine. The two founders of Cirque Inshi have assembled a team of young artists from the Kiev Circus School, one of the world’s most renowned for decades.

They created 3 shows, for a total of 107 performances in Ukraine, and 23,000 spectators. The second show, Rêves, was awarded the prize for the best Ukrainian project of the last ten years. On February 24, 2022, Russia began a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The country’s cultural life came to a halt, and Cirque Inshi had to cease its activities because of the numerous air raids.

Roman Khafizov moved to Paris to continue Cirque Inshi’s journey in France, where he had worked several times in the past. He contacted various structures and cultural institutions looking for partners to help him. Supported by Le Sirque de Nexon, the association Territoires de Cirque and the French Ministry of Culture, he was able to bring some of the members of Cirque Inshi to France to begin work on a new show in July 2023, which will then tour France from November 2023.

The new show, Rêves, was made possible thanks to the unwavering commitment of Cirque Inshi’s artists and the solidarity of 15 cultural organizations in France, the Territoires de Cirque association, the French Ministry of Culture, DRAC Bretagne, DRAC Île-de-France, the City of Paris and Angers Nantes Opéra.
