Biographies is a piece for a juggler and a rapper, in which the audience is invited into the intimacy of the juggler on stage and can hear her thoughts.

She juggles to the rhythm of her reflections, which are declaimed for the audience by a rapper. She follows the flow of her thoughts, sometimes precise, sometimes abstract. The juggling echoes this, the throws are timed word for word, and the figures are linked to the words, sometimes illustratively, sometimes more abstractly.

To the rhythm of 160 bpm, the audience follows the juggler’s mental state, which changes as the show progresses: the extreme concentration required to hold a ball balanced on the temple, the urgent need to pee at the start of the show (which disappears as soon as the audience enters), the panic that follows a miss, the trembling hand, the existential questions that arise at the turn of a throw, the feeling of euphoria after a risky catch, which resonates with her current doubts about her life.

The juggler performs in a transparent box 2 meters wide and 4 meters high, with the rapper accompanying her, sometimes outside, sometimes inside, sometimes invisible.

The relationship between them changes throughout the show: sometimes friendly, sometimes aggressive, sometimes that of a coach to his athlete.

Compagnie Ea Eo

The Ea Eo company puts on shows in which juggling is the central medium.
From one creation to the next, she strives to broaden the expressive scope of this particular material.
What can we say with juggling?
What does juggling tell us that we didn’t know before?
In our work, we strive sometimes to assume the specific, abstract character of juggling by delivering raw performative choreographies, sometimes to grasp it as if it were a discursive language with which it were possible to say everything, to speak.

The company’s creations have been permeated by these questions since its creation in 2013. All the Fun, the company’s first creation, showcased juggling that was at once ritual, playful, sacred and sporting. In short, juggling was shown as a practice that pre-existed the concept of art.
