Présentation
This workshop will focus on juggling composition and writing. How do you make your juggling punchy, lively and expressive? We'll review a number of fundamental notions and focus on the rhythmic and corporeal aspects of juggling. The idea is to understand and find out how to intelligently appropriate these principles and put them at the service of one's technique and approach for a more readable and relevant juggling. One of the main themes of this workshop will be body/object resonance. How can you invest your juggling with your body? How can you use your body to serve your technique, your language? We will question and explore : - the relationship between body and object - bodily involvement in juggling - writing sequences and routines - the question of writing for the stage - rhythm and space - numerous tools and principles at the service of the body and juggling - different methodologies for training, research and the stage The aim of this workshop is to provide concrete tools according to the objectives and desires of each participant. Develop a singular language. Understand the essence of your juggling and how to bring it to the fore.

Thomas Hoeltzel
Initially self-taught, Thomas trained at the Centre des Arts du Cirque de Lomme, from which he graduated in 2009 with a small form of danced juggling, “AKO, petite pièce jonglée et gesticulée”, which was performed 750 times in over 20 countries worldwide. From 2009 to 2015, he took part in a variety of creations and collaborated with a number of companies, diversifying his approach to the stage by working with circus and dance, street theater and opera. In 2015, he joined Cie Petri Dish on “Expiry Date”, a hybrid piece at the crossroads of dance, circus and theater. In 2016, he is a performer and co-author in “Humanoptère” by Cie La Main de l’Homme, a septet of danced juggling. In 2018, he joined Cie Allégorie for the creation of “Collision”, a fresco of circus and finery. From 2016 to 2020, he continues to perform his solo “AKO, petite pièce jug jug jug juglée et gesticulée” with GOP Varieté Theater in various German cities. Thomas is regularly invited to perform cartes blanches or impromptus in non-dedicated venues. At the same time, Thomas Hoeltzel has developed his own teaching method, based mainly on juggling but also on circus dramaturgy, thus broadening his approach to other apparatus. Every year, he gives workshops and classes at ESAC in Brussels and at CRAC in Lomme, where he also accompanies students on their graduation projects as an outsider. More occasionally, he intervenes in other European circus arts schools, theaters and cultural venues.
