The 70s saw the emergence of block parties in the United States, which played a major role in the emergence of hip-hop culture, with its roots in soul and funk. Back then, the principle was as follows: close off both sides of a street with barriers and security, plug in the lights and sound system to a street lamp and divert the power, and the locals come out to party, far from the city lights.

With the same intention of appropriating urban space and creating an hour-long party for local residents/festival-goers, Radio Kaizman wants to bring its “Block Party” to the city.

Radio Kaizman

After its beginnings in 2013 between Tournus (71) and Lyon (69), Radio Kaizman evolved into its current form in early 2015, integrating 2 female singers and a rapper into the Brass Band. The band now takes to the stage and street festivals.

In October 2016, Radio Kaizman released their first studio album, which led to them being selected for the Inouis du printemps de Bourges and then opening the doors to new festivals. At the same time, the band develops its acoustic formula with the show Street Party

So since 2018, Radio Kaizman has been able to tour France to unveil its two facets, street show and stage show, on some fifty dates per season.

In 2019, Radio Kaizman releases its second album, Gold & Indigo, supported by SMAC Cave à Musique and Bizarre! and noticed by FIP radio, and collaborates with stage coach Philippe Prohom (Francofolies) to prepare the live show.

2020 sees the creation of a second street show, the start of collaboration with a new rapper and a 7-musician format.

Back in 2015, the first acoustic version of Radio Kaizman with its rapper and singers featured two parts: a fixed concert in a small square or a stroll through the streets. With this formula, the group performs in a variety of contexts, including the Chalon dans la Rue and Rue et Compagnie festivals in Epinal.

Their music and energy were a great success, and it was these early experiences that inspired the group to create a real show, to take full advantage of the context offered by the street.

So, in 2017 the band collaborated with director Etienne Grebot (26000 Couverts, Les Grooms) and created the show Street Party for a summer 2018 release.
