This show will be a poem.
With human beings.
White sticks. Black charcoal.
Gestures:
Try to balance, and to do so, dare to be unbalanced.
Strive for harmony, even if it seems futile.
This is the Tendre creation, with vertigo as its promise.

Tendre, you could say it’s an innocent game of attempted balances, improbable arrangements, circus sensations: to the nearest millimeter, everything falls apart.
Nathan Israël and Luna rousseau evoke our relationship to the world, our relationship to what surrounds us,
with this principle: incidence.
The relationship to the object, to the body and to space, sounds and live music, each element has a consequence on the others, between fragility and agility. Risk-taking gradually increases, with all the
tension, trust in others and ritual with the audience that this entails.
Isn’t existence a sum of small miracles, each constantly rebalanced in relation to the other
?
Tending towards, pushing the tension to its maximum, feeling, showing tenderness towards oneself and
the other.

Le Jardin des Délices

We do circus.
We chose circus because it’s a mongrel art form.
And it’s well known that bastards are the most subversive, and bastards make the most beautiful children.

We compose with tenderness and humor on the figure of the monster: the one who is shown (monstrare), the one who stands out from the norm.
And then it’s a definition of the circus performer in a way.

A circus of hybridization, echoing Hyeronimus Bosch’s famous triptych, The Garden of Delights, whose strange creatures still captivate and provoke multiple interpretations.

We’re looking for a sensitive, dreamlike language that connects us and transcends us. Nothing less.

Le Jardin des Délices is a circus company founded by Nathan Israël and Luna Rousseau, two writers, one on stage and the other directing.

With a predilection for materials, their creations question our relationship to the world and to otherness, to the physical and symbolic limits of our condition.

L’Homme de Boue, premiered in 2014 at Les Subsistances in Lyon, is the company’s first play and has performed in France and internationally. Nathan Israël received the SACD prize for juggling creation for this solo in clay.

In 2016, Les Subsistances created Héros Fracas, a show and circus project on the theme of heroes, with school classes and a middle school class.

In 2017 L’Atelier du Plateau in Paris invited the company for the first edition of its FERIA festival: a site-specific show, Corps et Crues, was created for the occasion.

March 2018 saw the creation of Gadoue, a second show using clay, at the UP! festival. in Brussels. Since 2020, Gadoue has been a duo with harpist Delphine Benhamou, alternating with Paola Aviles.
