Rising Ape

A radio blares a Sleaford Mods song, a desk smokes, notebooks pile up; he’s moving so fast he’s a blur. He’s just accelerating. Accelerating through life like a rocket through the void – finding every engineer’s solution to reduce friction, in an absurd, joyous and sinister circus of productivity. Hanna Arendt’s Homo faber, with a Bullshit Job à la David Graber: happy Sisyphus, or neurotic?

He is us, and we are him.

La Mob à Sisyphe

Idriss Roca is a juggler, acrobat and comedian on the side, trained in all the Lomme courses (Lomme, Lyon, Lido de Toulouse) and in New Magic at the CNAC.

He co-founded and co-wrote the Mob à Sisyphe (Huitième Jour) and Diagonale du Vide (C’est l’Hiver…) shows, and plays a sort of father-and-son Roca with Vincent Roca, while also acting as an outsider’s eye on the meagre weeks that remain (La Générale Posthume, Embrouillamini, La Supérette, and others!).

For his work in multiform juggling, he was awarded the SACD 2021 prize for Auteur de Création Jonglée, and is therefore obliged to continue using it in his shows until at least 2031.

In 2019, he co-founded the company La Mob à Sisyphe with Raphaël Milland and Cochise Leberre – in search of a multiple and pluriform circus, but resolutely circassian, that seeks virtuosity in everything. With the desire to question a Narration in filigree, where the concrete act is absurd and the absurd act is concrete, in a poetic sense of fun and the spirit of a child, a enfant terrible.

It’s playing with everything. Especially what is difficult. Especially dangerous ones.
