Matthieu Villatelle joins forces with acrobatic juggler Shu Chien Hung in this new adventure dedicated to curious young people. Together, they use illusion to defy scientific logic, transforming space into a poetic playground. At an age when we’re learning that the round doesn’t fit into the square, this suspended moment makes us want to explore, build and understand.
Inspired by early construction games and the Soma cube, a construction in which the assembly of seven pieces allows for hundreds of possible combinations, this visual creation is an invitation to wonder and dream.
For the first time in Bondy, this show is presented as part of an exceptional day dedicated to the town’s children. On the program: two performances of Faces à Face, juggling workshops and games, and a presentation by pupils from Camille Claudel elementary school.
Compagnie du Faro | Matthieu Villatelle
A magician and actor, Matthieu Villatelle began his artistic career with theatrical training based on body, voice and text. A self-taught magician, he soon put his acting skills to good use, performing in a number of shows. In 2012, he met Thierry Collet and worked for several years with the Le Phalène company on training courses, as a performer in the show Vrai/Faux (delete as appropriate) and as a touring assistant on the shows Qui-Vive and Influences.
At the same time, he develops cultural action workshops with school and adult audiences. He works regularly with Kurt Demey, with whom he created the show Cerebro in 2017, an interactive form that tackles the mechanisms of manipulation and indoctrination. To accompany this show, Matthieu Villatelle is also setting up a cultural action project, Corpus, with which he regularly intervenes in schools. Accompanied by actor Léo Reynaud, they offer pupils in the same class 1h30 of interactive experience, immersing them in a system of indoctrination to which they will all, without realizing it, adhere.
Matthieu founded the Compagnie du Faro in 2017 to develop his own projects. Through magic, he seeks to question our relationship to belief, to reality and wonders about the mechanisms of manipulation. His shows are an invitation to develop our free will and critical thinking.
Matthieu Villatelle is currently on tour with three shows: Cerebro, Géométrie Variable and Ça disparaît, his first creation for young audiences, created in December 2023 in collaboration with Rémy Berthier of the Stupefy company.
